1 How much DNA template do I need to give to BATJ?

BATJ recommends the following quantities for each sequencing reaction. However, note that high DNA quantities give higher signal intensities.

Template (PCR Product)	Quantity
200 – 500 bp	6 – 20 ng
500 – 1000 bp	10 – 40 ng
1000 – 2000 bp	20 – 80 ng
>2000 bp	80 – 200 ng

Template (Plasmid)	Quantity
Single-stranded	150 – 300 ng
Double-stranded	300 – 800 ng (depends on the size of the insert and vector)

A doubling of the above amount is also recommended, in case the sequencing reaction needs to be repeated due to unforeseen circumstances.

2 What is the required for premixed samples?

For premixed sequencing service, please mix templates and primer as follows:

1.In 7 µl premix, please add 400 ng of ds DNA, or 50 ng of cleaned PCR products.
2.In this 7 µl, please add 3.2 pmol ( about 20 ng) of primer.
3.Please leave a note to indicate your samples are premixed.

What types of sample can you do nucleic acid isolation?

A: We have extensive experience on formalin fixed paraffin embedded (FFPE) tissue samples (blocks and/or slides), microbiota samples, microbial cultures, human/animal cells and tissues, plant tissues, environmental samples, as well as custom samples.

What method do you use for nucleic acid extraction?

A: We use a variety of commercial kits or in-house protocols that have been developed for specific types of samples.

Can you isolate microRNA?

A: Yes. We do high quality isolation of genomic DNA (gDNA), total RNA, mRNA, small non-coding RNA including microRNA (miRNA).

How do you check the quality and quantitiy of nucleic acids extracted?

A: The quality and quantity of isolated DNA/RNA samples will be checked with either fluorometer or Bioanalyzer.

2. Uncommon primers

Customers should provide uncommon primers at a concentration of 10 pmol (however, BATJ can dilute the concentration). If needed, BATJ could synthesize primers for our customers for additional charge.

Please download the request form for the desired service, fill in, save and email the attached form to:

also please give us a call, in case we do not receive your email because internet problem.
All orders (except that needs to do PCR orders) placed by 4:00pm in local will be picked up on the same day.

2 By what time do we need to submit PCR order?

To ensure you receive PCR sequencing results on next day after your order, please place PCR orders prior to 12:00 pm. All of them will be picked up at noon to allow us enough time to do PCR, PCR clean and sequence the samples.

3 Does BATJ accept mail-in orders?

Orders from areas too far from our base of operations should be mailed through UPS or FedEx for timely delivery to:

1 How soon can I receive the results?

Generally, results will be available the next day, no longer than 24 hours.

For orders with other service items, such as primer synthesis, sample purification, or primer walking etc., it may take a longer time depending on the specific services requested.

2 How will I receive the results?

There are two ways:
Small orders will be sent to you through email.
Order with a large amount of data could be transferred through internet by “FTP”.

3 What format will the files be in?

BATJ’s sequencing programs generate text files and electrophoregram files, either or both of which may be delivered to our customers.

4 Where can I get the necessary programs to read the sequencing data?

If you do not have a commercial program (ABI Sequencing Analysis, for example) to read electrophoregram files, there are a number of free software programs that are available to open the files, please select one based on your computer platform and operating system.

- Sequence Scanner for Windows platforms.
- Chromas for Windows platforms. An older version of the program is free for download.
- Sequencher has a free demo version for MAC and Windows.

5 What is your repeat policy?

Due to a change in policy, BATJ will not be providing a free repeat with orders starting 2017. However, if the customer has reason to believe a sequencing issue for the order lies with BATJ, BATJ will reuse the same DNA and primer provided for a one-time repeat. If this repeat does not resolve the issue, the repeat will be counted as a new order.

1 How long do you keep my samples?

BATJ is a biotech service company, we do not keep any customer’s sequencing data. We only keep your DNA samples for one week, in case a reaction needs to be repeated.
If you need either DNA or primers for future orders, please specify this in the “Comments” section of your order. Just write “Please keep my DNA, primer, or both for future orders.” We can store your DNA and/or primers for one month.
